Jeff Shetima: Serpentine, Turtle
Jeff Shetima: Serpentine, Turtle

Serpentine is actually a type of mineral that consists of greenish-blue hues, giving the turtle a unique and striking appearance. Jeff really captured the essence of a turtle with its shell patterns and little feet as if it was about to come to life. What I found most amazing was how smooth and polished the serpentine stone was, making it look almost lifelike in its shine. It's like each curve and line on the turtle was carefully thought out and expertly executed.
Turtle (Edo:wa): Turtle has always been esteemed because it carries its home on its back and goes with the flow of the river, not against it. In some mythologies, the first North Americans envisioned the continent as a turtle because it was surrounded by water. Turtle reminds us to respect Mother Earth.
