Brion Hattie: Rhyolite, Standing Bear

Brion Hattie: Rhyolite, Standing Bear

Hat-ie

Brion carved a rough rhyolite stone, transforming it into a whimsical chubby bear with such character, capturing the essence of playfulness and joy.  The finished piece stands proudly on display, radiating charm and warmth to all who gazed upon it.  This chubby rhyolite bear was more than just a carving - it was a symbol of creativity and passion that brought smiles to everyone who beheld its enchanting form.

Bear (Anshe): Bear was the principal animal for the Pueblo People and they are the most prevalent subject of Zuni fetishes. Bear fetishes are used for healing, protection, strength, journeying, mothering, hunting and gathering. Bear‚ hibernation reminds us of the value of going within.
