Collection: Corwin Yamutewa

Ya-mu-tee-wah

Corwin first discovered fetish carving in the summer of 2003, inspired by the renowned carver Brian Yatsattie. As a spectator of Brian's work, Corwin was given the chance to try his hand at carving, and he never looked back. Today, Corwin's portfolio has expanded to include a wide range of animal carvings and stone inlays. Corwin says "art cannot be rushed" & "you can't rush profection". Fetish carving runs in his family - his late father, Rufus Comosona(d), was a fetish necklace maker, and his aunt Carol Martinez as well as cousins Clissa and Felissa Martin are also accomplished carvers from his fathers side of the family.
